Relationship
v1.0.0
After 365 days in beta, this release is considered stable. The maintainer would like to thank the reviewer for her patience during the many, many hotfixes.

Added
-
Full support for
quiet_time_together. Previously experimental, now the default mode. No further configuration needed. - Photo pipeline: she shoots, he carries the bag. Benchmarked over one full day (see Exhibit A).
-
New dependency:
Cici(cat). Not optional. Not removable. Walks across the keyboard during critical operations and is still considered a feature. - "I'm proud of you" is now said out loud, in both directions, roughly daily. Previously the maintainer thought this was something you felt quietly. Turns out it's something you say.
- Door NFCs: the maintainer's front door now texts the reviewer when he leaves and when he's home. Built in August. Still running. She said "I love that," which is the only code review that matters.
- Monthly check-in, with handwritten cards. Four questions, no phones, one date a month. Introduced in September. First session ran long. All sessions will run long.
-
take_your_pill()runs daily at 5 PM. Sixty executions and counting. Zero missed. - Shared budget, with "Cici" as its own line item above Health Care. The cat has a budget. The maintainer does not.
Fixed
-
#001Defendant failed to send a birthday text on the actual birthday. Root cause: wanted to say it "face to face." Patched. Regression tests now run daily. RESOLVED -
#002Removed the phrase "tone it down" from the codebase entirely. Any remaining references are considered a critical bug. RESOLVED -
#003Apology flow previously contained a plot twist. Flow has been simplified to: listen → admit → apologise → stop talking. RESOLVED -
#004On a trail in July, the maintainer asked about the camera before asking about her. Priority order has been corrected at the source. The camera can wait. RESOLVED -
#005Maintainer previously went to bed with everything bottled up. Now says it the same day, in words, badly if necessary. Reviewer confirmed: badly is fine. RESOLVED
Changed
- "Winning the argument" has been deprecated in favour of "understanding what she meant." Performance improved dramatically.
-
Default response to "I'm fine" updated from
oktoask again, gently.
Known issues
- Maintainer still occasionally thinks he's right. Workaround: he is not.
- Maintainer's "I'll let you know, I have a few things to figure out" still resolves to a plan at roughly 11 PM. Reviewer has learned to pack a bag either way.
- The puzzle was scoped as a two-person project. Maintainer finished it alone on a Thursday afternoon and announced it with three exclamation marks. Reviewer was notified after the fact. Not a bug, apparently.
-
Cicicontinues to shit in places that are not the litter box. Upstream issue, out of our control.
- October 2: the "Common Decency vs. " incident. Verdict: guilty. Sentence served in full. The snack was delivered without commentary.
- Reviewer approved the apology after chasing a button around a screen for forty seconds. The button has since retired.
- Mid-September: a hard conversation that could have become a fight and instead became a plan. Four questions on cards, once a month. The maintainer got excited and over-explained it for twenty minutes. The reviewer said "I think you're excited." She was right. She usually is.
-
git init, November 8, 2025. One date, one drive home, and one question asked in bed. She said yes. Everything on this page is a consequence of that commit. - Initial build had no tests, no documentation, and one very nervous maintainer.
- More walls. More frames. Same photographer.
- Christmas before Christmas, New Year after New Year. You're away Dec 19 to Jan 4, so we do both on our own dates. You said you'd make it feel like New Year. The maintainer is holding you to that.
- Two-day camping trip, just us, first clear weekend. Friday to Saturday. The stoves are ready. All they need is alcohol.
- Long-term: a van, somewhere in Europe, no itinerary. Status: dreamt about on October 26. Dreams are now part of the backlog.
- No breaking changes planned. The maintainer intends to keep the API exactly as it is.
Maintainer's note
Jokes off for a minute.
I told you in September that you're part of my day, my week, and by November my year. It's November. You're the whole year.
I watched you drive to Aawkar for the first time, land a title you earned, save money you said you couldn't, and keep going on days you didn't want to. I say I'm proud of you so often that it probably sounds like a reflex. It isn't. I mean it every single time.
I'm not always quick to understand what you need. You've been patient with that, and you've kept telling me anyway, which is the thing I'm most grateful for. I want you to feel wanted on purpose, not in passing. That's the work for year two, and I'm in.
Thank you for this year. Here's to the next build.
